Welcome a new addition to the St. Jean’s family: Smoked Salt Spring Island Mussels!
Salt Spring Island is one of the Gulf Islands in the Salish Sea between Vancouver Island and mainland British Columbia. In addition to being well-known for artists and outdoor recreation, Salt Spring has a vibrant local food culture—including seafood.
We’re proud to highlight Salt Spring mussels, and canned seafood doesn’t get much more local than this: Salt Spring is only a short ferry ride and a 35-minute drive away from our Nanaimo smokehouses where we smoke the mussels with natural hardwood smoke and hand-pack the cans to ensure care and quality.
Our smoked mussels are ready to eat right out of the can and are a convenient addition to any meal: serve on crackers or cucumber slices for an easy appetizer plate; use as a topping for bruschetta or homemade pizza; or add into your favourite seafood pasta dish.
